Daily Insanity August 12, 2022

 

So … June 18, 2012, my home was in a fire… one of the upstairs neighbors neglected to put her cigarette out properly and the coal resurrected itself in the 50-mph wind, on a 100-degree, but-it’s-a-dry-heat, Vegas day, and somehow, blew under the door to the hot water heater, hit the gas line and the rest is history … Kablewy-Bang-Bang!! (That’s a technical term) The torrential wind blew the now open gas line, straight into the roof like a blow torch … it carved through the 2-hour fire wall in about 10 minutes … the firemen almost fell through the roof trying to fight the inferno, not realizing how crazy hot the burning flame was destroying everything in its path … periodically, the fire department still brings rookie fireman to the building to train them, because the nature of the fire was so unique …

 

I found out about the fire while I was at my office which is about 10 minutes away from my home. A neighbor/friend called me and asked me “Did you know your whole building is on fire?” NO … I did not … I headed out the door immediately for the somber drive home … I could see the smoke from the fire the whole way home from the office … heavy sigh … it still makes me want to cry … Now THAT was a bad day… in fact, that was a bad year … to be followed up by a bad decade … but I learned a lot … so, not wasted … There is obviously A LOT more to the story, but the rest of the story is for another time … hence, the blog, so I can get it all out in its time, with purpose …

 

Fast forward 10 years …

 

Tonight, as I drove home, I saw a rainbow in the direction of my home … I recalled that day as I drove home from the office, watching my home going up in smoke, imagining the worst … let me tell you … seeing a rainbow instead of smoke is WAY better ... Just sayin’ … Ha!

 

When I saw the rainbow, I was imagining the best … the best of everything for my life … I can feel it coming … I can FEEL it here, NOW … 10 years later things look so different … 10 years of getting my ass kicked, on so many levels, in so many ways. I find when I seek the answers to the lessons being served, I can find them … all of them lead to the end of the rainbow’s pot o’ gold … so much colorful beauty in the journey … if you look for it, it reveals itself … wisdom comes with the experiences … and Experience is what you get, when you get nothing else … I’ve gotten more than my fair share of experience, but I like it, it’s good stuff …

 

Thank you, Jesus, for your promise in every rainbow, as well as your hope, peace & love (aka the pot of gold) at the end of every grateful attitude & faith filled thought … trusting in You, that you will carry me through it … faith that everything works out for the good when I trust in You … You’re the BEST!

 

Ps. My friend said he could see Satan's head with sunglasses on looking towards the sky in the fire ... after he said it, I could see it too ... can you?
