Daily Insanity March , 2023 - waiting for one thing to take you down ...

I called Brother tonight to say “Hi” and see how things were going … He said he got through the day but was just waiting for the one big thing that was going to take him down for good … What?!?

I started laughing (although I can identify with that fear) because I asked what he possibly thought could bring him down after EVERYTHING he has been through and it has not taken him down yet … ‘Everything’ meaning - Numerous hospitalizations & arrests in 7 different states, over 37 years; Our abusive, mentally ill mother; homelessness, as well as homeless people situations; Stalker Criminal Caretaker – 5 year ordeal; drug dealers in his home; numerous cars wrecked, abandoned & stolen; mental and medical issues; episodes that left his ample bank account in the negative; and so much more!

He then says his toilet had clogged today and he worked on it for 10 minutes with a plunger to get it unplugged and he thought this was it, this was the very thing that was going to take him out for good … but he got through it, got it unplugged and even got a workout doing it!

I assured him that after everything he had been through, the toilet was not going to be what took him out, and good job for sticking with it and getting the job done …

He is remarkable when I think about it … we have both been through so much and we are survivors … we can take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’, perseverance and tenacity are our middle names … we are a lot alike in so many ways … I have not given him the credit on how much he has been through and still keeps going … I think because I have not really acknowledged myself how much I have been through and keep on going, I have not seen how incredible he is in this respect too …

It is quite unbelievable what we have been through and survived … we are pretty much bad asses …

I am going to tell him that tomorrow, that he is a bad ass for all that he has been through and survived,  because he deserves to know he is truly amazing … I don’t tell him that enough … I am going to make a point to tell him that more often …

I will be curious what will eventually bring him down, I seriously doubt it will be a fucking toilet, I could be wrong, but nothing has taken him down, and kept him down, yet!
